Services | Custom cDNA Clone Production

Our Molecular Biology Cloning team has the capacity to modify our existing constructs or to generate new constructs for external customers.  To discuss your cloning requirements and to receive a quotation please contact us.

Given the fact that the vast majority of all MRC PPU research papers rely heavily on the cDNA constructs generated by our cloning team, we have a wealth of knowledge in construct design, subcloning, and ensuring accuracy of the final products.

We are happy to make our services available to scientists outside of our Unit and look forward to working with you.  We have thus far worked on numerous projects with investigators from around the world based in academia as well as the pharma and biotech sectors.  Please let us know how we can help you!

cDNA Clone Construction

st step to designing your clone is a discussion with a member of our highly experienced staff.  We can work with you to identify:

  • The optimal plasmid backbone (see further below as well) for end-use expression systems (bacterial, mammalian, baculovirus/insect cells, yeast systems)
  • The best source for your material for your gene of interest
  • Any mutagenesis requirements for your gene of interest
  • Any combination of tags that may be required for end-use.

Please contact us to begin the process today!

cDNA Clone Purification

Depending on the planned end use of the cDNA construct you have generated, we would be happy to have ensure that purification of the DNA meets those goals. Considerations of quantity and concentration will depend largely on the type of backbone and size of the construct. We can discuss all these matters with you at the outset of the project.

Information to be added

Quality Control Assessment

Upon completion of construction, all clones are checked by digestion and full sequencing of the expressed open reading frame.

Pricing

As each investigator's needs for cDNA construct generation are different, pricing will vary depending on all the variables discussed above including:

  • Size of backbone and insert
  • Mutagenesis requirements
  • Addition of tags
  • Purification

Please contact us to discuss the requirements of your project in further detail!

Turnaround Times

Given that the nature of each customer's project is unique, turnaround times will necessarily vary from clone to clone.  We will endeavour to provide each customer with a realistic timeline for their clone however, at the initial discussion phase.
